Visibility Audit: 2025 Subaru Forester Touring — Pillars, Cameras, and Mirrors Tested

Realizamos una prueba de visibilidad y usabilidad durante una semana en un Subaru Forester Touring 2025, midiendo el grosor del pilar A, el área de la ventana trasera, el rendimiento de la cámara y la cobertura de los espejos, además de las impresiones de conducción diaria.

Nuestro coche de pruebas fue un Subaru Forester Touring 2025 (AWD, motor bóxer de 2.5 litros, CVT; con una potencia de 180 hp y 178 lb-ft) equipado con neumáticos para todas las estaciones 225/55R18, y un peso de aproximadamente 1,590 kg. Durante más de 620 millas, combinamos trayectos urbanos densos, carreteras secundarias de dos vías, conducción nocturna por la autopista y maniobras repetidas de estacionamiento en espacios reducidos, con condiciones que variaron desde tardes secas de 27°C hasta una tormenta de lluvia a 7°C. Medido desde el punto de vista del conductor, el pilar A mostró un grosor aparente de 96 mm (3.8 in); cerca de la base, al nivel del tablero, se amplió a 142 mm (5.6 in). En una curva a la izquierda de 45 grados a 10 mph, eso se tradujo en una banda de oclusión de aproximadamente 0.85 m a 10 m de distancia, requiriendo un pequeño giro de cabeza para verificar la presencia de peatones.

El área acristalada de la ventana trasera medía 0.68 m² (7.3 ft²); el limpiaparabrisas barría el 83% de esa área. En el espejo del habitáculo, los reposacabezas traseros ocultaban aproximadamente el 12% del campo de visión vertical, dejando aún una vista clara y rectangular. El Monitor de Vista Surround del Touring (cámara de 360 grados desde arriba más cámara trasera ancha) demostró ser eficaz. A la luz del día, pudimos leer una matrícula estadounidense a 3 m (10 ft); de noche, sólo con las luces de reversa de fábrica, la legibilidad bajó a 1.8 m (6 ft). Los artefactos de costura en los bordes eran leves y no ocultaban peligros. Utilizando una prueba de aproximación al bordillo, la vista compuesta estimó la distancia rueda-bordillo dentro de ±4 cm (±1.6 in). El rango dinámico manejó las sombras profundas sin deslumbrar los faros, y la latencia de la cámara se sintió baja (≈150 ms según un video de cronómetro), lo que facilitó alinearse en espacios reducidos.

La cobertura de los espejos fue excelente. Con los espejos ajustados según las pautas de SAE, el espejo izquierdo cubría completamente el carril adyacente desde aproximadamente 2 m detrás del parachoques hasta más de 60 m, con un pequeño ángulo muerto residual de aproximadamente 0.5 m de ancho ubicado entre 4 y 8 m detrás cerca del pilar C; el espejo cóncavo derecho eliminó ese espacio en su lado. En la práctica, un sedán en el carril siguiente se mantuvo continuamente visible en al menos un espejo desde que nos acercamos hasta más de 70 m atrás. Los indicadores de punto ciego se iluminaban de manera confiable con vehículos que ingresaban desde aproximadamente 12–45 m a velocidades de cierre de hasta ~30 mph, sin falsas alarmas en la lluvia.

Más allá de las líneas de visión, el Forester es bastante tranquilo. El motor atmosférico de 2.5 tira lo suficiente (nuestro GPS marcó 0–60 mph en 8.7 segundos, con el conductor a bordo y medio tanque), y los pasos de la CVT mantienen el ruido en niveles adecuados en pendientes. La calidad de la marcha es suave sobre el asfalto roto de la ciudad, y el ruido del viento es moderado; el rugido de los neumáticos aumenta sobre el concreto áspero. Promediamos 30.1 mpg en el recorrido (el EPA combinado es 28), con un mejor tramo en carretera de 34.2 mpg a 70 mph indicado.

En general, el Forester 2025 destaca por su visibilidad en situaciones reales: pilares lo suficientemente delgados, una gran apertura trasera, cámaras efectivas y una amplia cobertura de espejos hacen que conducir y estacionar en la ciudad sea de bajo estrés. Si priorizas las líneas de visión y la maniobrabilidad sin complicaciones, busca un modelo con el Monitor de Vista Surround; de lo contrario, la cámara básica y los espejos aún cubren lo esencial.
