En los últimos dos años, los programas de los museos han puesto en primer plano a Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein y figuras cercanas al pop, cuyas obras capturaron la movilidad y el deseo del mercado masivo. El resultado ha sido exposiciones que conectan el diseño con el arte contemporáneo, atrayendo tanto a clubes de automóviles como a audiencias artísticas, y reenmarcando el automóvil como un símbolo, una superficie y un escenario.

En el Museo de Automóviles Petersen en Los Ángeles, la exposición Andy Warhol: Cars – Obras de la Colección de Arte Mercedes‑Benz estuvo abierta desde julio de 2022 hasta enero de 2023, marcando la salida más significativa de la serie en EE. La Colección de Arte Mercedes‑Benz sigue prestando selecciones de la serie Cars de Warhol a socios europeos, mientras que el Museo BMW en Múnich rota los Art Cars de la era Pop de Lichtenstein y Warhol a través de sus galerías y apariciones en eventos.

La pintura In the Car (1963) de Roy Lichtenstein, perteneciente a la Galería Nacional de Arte Moderno de Escocia, sigue siendo un referente y está periódicamente expuesta en Edimburgo.
